“We know that it will take a collaborative effort from all stakeholders to reduce our Veteran suicides, unemployment and homelessness and this proposed Bill is a great step in the right direction. We must continue to improve programs that prepare our transitioning Service members and their families for life after the Military.”

“MOPH strongly believes that we, as a Nation, owe every service member the tools they need to successfully transition to civilian life. Whether they plan to pursue higher education, directly enter the workforce, or start their own businesses, they deserve to be as well equipped to succeed on the day they leave the military as they were to perform their duties each day while serving in the military. The Loya-Sears Warrior Transition Assistance Reform Act takes significant steps toward that goal, and we thank Congressman Bacon for its introduction.”

“As a nationwide network and resource for aspiring Vetrepreneurs and their spouses to start and grow their own business, Bunker Labs recognizes the need for stronger transition services for our service members. Veteran-owned firms represent 9.1 percent of all U.S. firms, generate $1.14 trillion in revenue, employ over 5 million people, and pay wages of $195 billion. Those who serve our great nation should be afforded every opportunity to succeed in this capacity as they exit the service. The Loya-Sears Warrior Transition Assistance Reform Act will help further empower Veterans as leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship.“
“Should you ask a civilian to enter the military and write a combat order with just one week of training? Then why is it sufficient for a servicemember to enter the private sector with one week of transition assistance?”
The service indoctrinates recruits into a new culture, so they should receive the same dedicated training in preparation for exiting the military. From day one, the mission of recruit training is to create Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines, and above all, better citizens and members of society. The military is failing at that mission if servicemembers are released back into society without the tools they need to find gainful employment and contribute.
